The British Olympic Association wish to purchase a series of three pieces which will be given to donors.
They will mark “two years to go”, “one year to go” and the final one will celebrate the start of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Donors to Team 2012 are those individuals who choose to financially support our athletes on their journey, and the BOA would like to reward those who have contributed the most by creating a gift just for them. They would like each piece to be the same but to have three versions in each gold, silver and bronze.
They are open to suggestion on the form the piece will take but conversations to date have focused on a relay baton (or similar).
The Bronze piece would be the first presented this July, Silver in July 2011 and Gold in July 2012. The item needs to sit comfortably in a boardroom or in a personal home. The piece must look exquisite, exclusive and stylish, something that will engage people in positive conversation, that will be coveted for years to come. The aim would be to collect all three batons, and if donors do qualify for all three they will also receive an exclusive podium to display and store their batons.
Each year, 5 pieces will be produced in July (dates to be agreed) in order that each item can be delivered to the successful donors with appropriate packaging and carriage worthy of such a piece. There have been several conversations to date about one or two of the pieces being “personalized” in some way by a famous artist to raise further revenue for Team GB. The design of the piece should take this concept into account.
