Civil Engineering company C A Blackwell are holding a Meet the Buyer event for specialist suppliers and contractors operating throughout northern England. The company are hoping to meet suppliers and subcontractors to help with delivery of their projects
The event will be an excellent networking opportunity, where members of staff will be on hand to provide drinks and canapés and answer any questions.

Kier is seeking subcontractors to build a £20m academy in Winsford. The contractor is holding a ‘Meet-the-Buyer’ event next week organised by Constructionline.
Subcontractors and suppliers will get the chance to meet with Kier staff from its northern office that are on the look out for firms within a 30-mile radius of the Winsford site.
The event will be held at Winsford E-Act Academy on Wednesday 6 June, when Kier is looking to come away with a local supply chain of contractors.
Becci Marshall, sales manager from Constructionline, said: “It can prove difficult for local contractors to have the opportunity to get involved with projects of this size, which is why it is great to see Kier’s Northern office sourcing local construction workers to help them deliver this project.
“Hosting this event is the heart of what we do: we want to help suppliers find and secure work and make it easier for businesses to find reliable and local construction companies.”

Specialist in the south west can put themselves in front of clients and main contractors at a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in Wiltshire later this month. The day is being organised by Constructionline at the Bowood Hotel in Wiltshire on Thursday April 26.
Companies and clients looking to hook-up with new subcontractors include Vinci Construction, Dawnus, Kier Construction, Marlborough College, Selwood Housing, The Considerate Constructors Scheme, Stratten St Margaret Parish Council and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue.
Cheryl Wrench, client relationship manager from Constructionline, said: “In many cases local councils and other businesses want to give work to SMEs in their area, and in turn the contractors are eager to win these tenders but it’s often hard for each to gain access to one another.
“This event is designed to give local construction companies some valuable introductions as well as helping them to learn about upcoming work opportunities, and how best to win business from the buyers.”

WARRINGTON council is holding a ‘meet the buyer’ event for a new primary school being built in Chapelford, on Tuesday April 17.
Work on the £4m building officially got underway last week with a turf-cutting ceremony at the site which will comprise a single storey school building with community facilities.
John Turner & Sons Ltd are the appointed contractors and the purpose of the session is to provide more information on the project, an outline of the sub-contractor trade packages available, the material requirements and the tender process involved.
This event which takes place from 8am – 10am at Warrington Business School Conference Room, Warrington Collegiate, Winwick Road, is free for local traders to attend. But places are limited so please register in advance.

“Meet The Buyers” event is set right up to boost the economy! The sixth South Hampshire Meet the Buyers event is to be held on Thursday 29th March 2012 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton.
Meet the Buyers enables major buying organisations within South Hampshire to meet local suppliers face-to-face and is designed to build local supply chains. The event is funded by the South Hampshire Meet the Buyers Partnership which includes Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council, Test Valley Borough Council and Winchester City Council. The event is being run this year on behalf of the Partnership by Hampshire Chamber of Commerce whose main aim is to support initiatives which create growth and prosperity for Hampshire.
The previous Meet the Buyer event saw over 110 suppliers and 23 buyers take part, with an estimated nearly £2.3million of business as a result. Each year, almost all suppliers who have attended have expected to do business with companies they met at Meet the Buyers.
Senior buyers from organisations such as Hampshire County Council, Basingstoke and Dean Borough Council, Fassett Facilities Management Company, Lakehouse, the award winning support services provider, New Forest District Council, Geoffrey Osborne Limited the Construction, Refurbishment, Fit out Civil Engineering & Property Services Company and many more have already committed to take part. They will all be given a buying booth at the event, allowing them each to meet small and medium sized businesses on the day.
Councillor Peter Wall, Cabinet Member for Business and Skills said “We are proud to be involved with this year’s event which is set to be the largest yet. It is a great opportunity for local businesses to meet with some of the biggest public and private sector organisations in the region and generate income for the local economy.”
Once again the Partnership is offering more than just the one day event. This year a programme of events will help prepare people for a day of selling. The first is “How to Sell Yourself” seminar which will be held on March 20 at Eastleigh Borough Council offices. This event will enable suppliers to pick up tips on how to best sell their products and services to major buyers. The guest speaker for this event will be Denise Barlow, Head of Communications and Marketing at Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. Having run her own sales training company for over 20 years, Denise has a wealth of experience in the field of Sales and Marketing.
There will also be two public sector procurement training workshops “How to Win Public Sector Procurement Opportunities”. These will be held on Tuesday February 28th in Committee Room 1 at Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA. The second will be held on Wednesday March at 7th at Wessex House in Eastleigh. Both events will start at 1pm and end at 5pm.

Social enterprises based in the South East are invited to attend a free “meet the buyer” event on Friday, 17 February (9am-12.30pm) at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel (Kilkenny).
The objective is create a space for engagement between local suppliers and public procurement agencies. It will offer enterprises the opportunity to meet a range of buyers and to discover more about doing business with the public sector. The event is being hosted by ACTION Pilot Project in conjunction with DCU.
